Welcome to another sensational Saturday at
Sugar Creek Hollow. We have a terrific challenge for you this week that I think you'll enjoy participating in and I know the design team is looking forward to seeing your creations on this one too.
We want you to celebrate your country and its history and make your
vintage patriotic card using the colors of your country as represented in your country's flag. Now most of the design team resides in the United States and so the vintage cards we created, like mine above, are in U.S. colors of red, white and blue. One of our teammates is from Canada and her card was created in red and white, the colors of the Canadian flag. Visit the
Sugar Creek Hollow blog to see the design team inspiration for this challenge. I think this will be fun to see all the vintage countries that all our followers and challenge participants represent.
I wanted to represent the history of the U.S. in my vintage card and what better way than images from vintage postcards. I found these wonderful images at
Far Far Hill, a blog that offers vintage images and papers for free. It's a great site and resource for creating the vintage cards we love to see here at Sugar Creek Hollow.
Each image was cut out and distressed and then assembled in a collage onto my base card. I used a doily from a new diecut I found at
Cheery Lynn Designs and a script stamp in the background to add to the aged feel of the card. I'm pretty pleased with the result and a great way to celebrate our nation's birthday this weekend!
