Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow

Happy Saturday! It's another sensational Saturday with a new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow. We've been getting some amazing entries in our challenges over the past couple weeks and appreciate so much those that are participating. If you're new to Sugar Creek Hollow, I welcome you to join our challenges. A new challenge is posted every Saturday at the Sugar Creek Hollow blog.

This week we're challenging you to create a Valentine card in non-traditional colors, so no pink or red! We'd love it if you create a card and play along in our challenge this week. We will choose one random winner, who will receive a free digi of their choice from the Sugar Creek Hollow Shoppe and a badge to display on your blog. If you use a Sugar Creek Hollow image you will get two entries in the random draw. Just follow the instructions at the Sugar Creek Hollow blog and join us in the weekly fun!

So it's pretty obvious I used non-traditional colors and images on my Valentines card. The focal points of the card start with this fabulous butterfly image from Sugar Creek Hollow.  "Call Me Beautiful" is the name of the digi and it's part of the SCH Springtime in Paris Collection.  You can find this digi HERE in the Sugar Creek Hollow Shoppe. I used the butterfly three times on my card, just resizing it a couple times and layering it to achieve different effects.

A second focal point is the sentiment that I created myself to fit on the beaded circles Nesties. I printed the sentiment on top of digital paper from Shabby Miss Jenn Designs - it has a slight texture that is hard to capture in the photo. I thought this phrase tied in the butterfly elements with the Valentine theme.  In fact the turquoise background DP is digital as well. You'll notice not one heart on my card so the only thing that specifically calls out Valentine is this sentiment.

And then finally, this fabulous vintage Valentine image that had the color palette I followed and the butterfly theme so it made all the card elements cohesive and work together. The end result is a Valentine card in non-traditional colors and I don't even miss the red and pink!

Let me know what you think about this non-traditional Valentine - I love the comments you leave during your visits here.  Also, take a minute and visit the other design team member blogs for some amazing inspiration. I think we have some of the most talented card designers hands down of any company.  Links to their blogs are on my left sidebar.  Thanks for stopping by!

Oh my....YOUR BLOG IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!! So sorry I am late visiting you this week. I had to pack and leave for a week-long ministers conference with the hubster. I am settled in a nice hotel room over-looking the blue ridge mountains...going to visit the worlds largest scrapbooking store tomorrow. I'm doomed for sure!

Your card is just amazing Sharon. Everytime I look at it I see something new. However, those pearls just set everything else off and give it that romantic feel that it deserves. I wish I could come stamp with you if only for a day!!!
