Michigan Lighthouses

Happy Wednesday friends! We have a new challenge at Sweet Sketch Wednesday today with Digi Doodle Shop sponsoring us. I chose this Lighthouse image because it reminds me of summers on Lake Michigan. Every year we walk the beach to the Little Sable Point lighthouse on the lake.

Did you know that the state of Michigan has 124 lighthouses total?  Most of them, 115 to be exact, are on the Great Lakes. And many of them were built in the late 1800s and still operating today.  In fact, I read somewhere that Michigan has more lighthouses than any other state.  I nice little stroll through Michigan history and my memories to get us started today!

I love this Lighthouse image from Digi Doodle Shop.  It was colored with Copic markers and I sponged in the clouds after coloring it. I thought the papers from American Crafts "Chap" collection looked nautical and I think they work perfectly with the lighthouse image.  The embellishment was made with the same paper, about a half inch wide and scored every quarter inch before folding accordian style and then flattening with the button to hold it in place.

Springtime Bunnies

Happy Wednesday and welcome to a new sketch challenge at Sweet Sketch Wednesday! We have a quick and simple card design we're challenging you to this week and a great sponsor so let's get started shall we?

Here's this week's sketch to follow. It makes a lovely and elegant card and is a perfect way to show off a handmade flower embellishment as I did on my card.

I choose this wonderful digi called Springtime Bunnies from the Digi Doodle Shop. I just loved these sweet bunnies the minute I saw the image.  What a wonderful scene and so fun to color with my Copics. I used a Cheery Lynn Designs doily die to matte my image on and used Good Day Sunshine papers from We R Memory Keepers for the card background and handmade flower. A satin ribbon serves as the vertical panel with a MS edge punch peaking out on each side acting as the ruffled edge.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday #92

Happy Wednesday, middle of the week, halfway to the weekend everyone! It's indeed a wonderful day with the start of a new sketch challenge at Sweet Sketch Wednesday!  We have a "quick to put together" sketch for you this week and another wonderful sponsor.

Here's the sketch to follow this week. What I love about this sketch is that it goes together quickly and also shows off your DP in the background instead of covering most of it up. So it's great with both large and small patterned papers.

This adorable Digi Doodle Shop image is called "Fascination" and you can find it HERE.  I just fell in love with this darling bear cub the moment I saw him. He was colored with Copic markers which I also used to create the grass he is sitting upon.  I've used the new Stella and Rose collection papers (Gertie 6x6 pad) from My Mind's Eye - they are gorgeous papers aren't they? The ric-rac paper strip was created with a Papertrey Ink diecut and the flower is K&Company.
