Sweet Sketch Wednesday - Whimsie Doodles

Happy Wednesday! What better way to start the day than a new challenge at Sweet Sketch Wednesday. We also have a wonderful new sponsor this week too and it's Whimsie Doodles stamps. Combine the two and this is what you get - an adorable card and a special offer (read on)!

We are so excited that Whimsie Doodles is sponsoring the new challenge!

In March of 2009, Melyssa Connolly, artist and owner, began turning her whimsical hand-drawn images into digital files for sale online. Whimsie Doodles' digital stamp line features images that range from cute little boys and girls, to punny stuff, and everything in-between. They enjoy sharing lots of samples on their Whimsie Doodles Blog, where they also post weekly challenges and tutorials. The grand prize winner of the Sweet Sketch Wednesday challenge this week will win a $10 gift certificate in the Whimsie Doodles online store.

But wait, that's not all!  For all of our followers and fans of Sweet Sketch Wednesday, Whimsie Doodles is offering a special discount in their online store!  Use the discount code "Sweet10" at the Whimsie Doodles Store and receive 10% off your next order!  The coupon code expires 30 days from today. Not what is better than that?  That kind of news will  get you through the week won't it?!!  Thanks Melyssa for this treat and your generous sponsorship of the Sweet Sketch Wednesday challenge this week.

And here's the fantastic sketch for this week's challenge, designed by the creative and talented Arlana Patten! This sketch goes together quickly and is one I know you'll enjoy using over and over again.

I used the Whimsie Doodles' "Koale Swing" digi stamp for my card this week. Isn't he adorable and just typical of a boy playing outside on a nice day?  He was colored with Copic markers and the panel cut with a Spellbinders' Nestabilities deckled rectangle die. I first cut out the bottom of the tire and the top of the rope by hand and then overlapped those pieces on the die before cutting so they would "hang" off the edges of the cut panel. Stampin Up Natural Ivory and Poppy and Papertrey's Aqua Mist cardstock was used here along with designer paper from My Mind's Eye "Alphabet Soup" - I used both the coordinating front and back of the DP for this card.  A few buttons with twine tied on them complete the card.

We love to see all the creativity you bring to our sketch challenges week by week and welcome you to join us again on this sketch. If you're new to Sweet Sketch Wednesday, we welcome you and hope you join us.  For more inspiration, visit the Sweet Sketch Wednesday site where the rest of the design team cards are posted - you'll find some really creative cards there and more Whimsie Doodle images as well.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wonderful card! The buttons are a great touch - they reinforce the circle image of the tire. Great coloring, too!

Sharon, how totally fabulous and sweet!!! Love this image and all your wonderful details. You've inspired me to try that technique of leaving part of your image "hanging out" over the nestie border. A marvelous boy card!
