Greetings! Halloween is over - all the little goblins are home, the porch lights are turned off and it's now time for Midnight Madness (the sketch challenge variety of course) in my house. It's MMSC77 and I've chosen to follow the clean and simple sketch for this week using a technique that becomes a focal point of the card.
The technique is dry embossing aluminum foil. Here, I've used a poinsettia embossing folder to create the texture on the foil. Quite simple really. You only have to be a bit careful when adherring the foil to your cardstock so as to not burnish it flat. Otherwise you cut the heavy-duty foil to the size you desire for your card and just insert it into the embossing folder like you would any cardstock.
After embossing and adherring to the cardstock, I distressed it a bit with dark chocolate ink and some tea dye distress ink. The inks hits some of the cracks and crevices and adds an aging effect.
For the image panel, I've chosen the "Bells and Boughs" stamp set from Stampin' Up. I love the vintage look of these stamps. The image was colored with Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Hansome Hunter inkpads using a Dove blender pen. A bit of Mustard color ink was used to outline the image and make it pop. The panel was distressed using Tea Dye and Old Paper distress ink from Tim Holtz. A bit of yellow stickles to highlight the flower centers and a few silver rhinestone embellishments and that's it.
Hope you like this vintage looking Christmas card this week! Thanks for stopping by!

Simply stunning. Sometimes I think the simple designs are still some of the best. It really allowed an opportunity for you to show off this goreous, foiled paper. This is lovely with all the sparkle and texture. Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy scedule to play along with us this week. The Midnight Madess DT thanks you for your participation. Wow, Sharon this is beautiful! I've been swamped lately and haven't been able to browse my usual blogs so this is the first I've seen this card. Congratulations on your Remarkable award. It's well deserved!
Sharon, I didn't see this on the SCS gallery, so I came to visit your blog. Woo Hoo girl, you are one REMARKABLE stamper. Congrats. I may be kicked off princess status as I've missed 2 or 3 - I've had family issues and have been somewhat out of the loop. Your creation for this is STUNNING. That foil embossing is dynamite and your image beautiful. I expect nothing less from one of my fave stampers!! Hugs - The Former Princess
