Coffee Crazy !

Hi there friends! It's the last Wednesday of the month, so at Sweet Sketch Wednesday we have a fun TWIST to the challenge starting today. Coffee themed cards are the twist - either through image choice, embellishments, papers, etc. Lot's of fun and, in part, our celebration or nod to National Coffee Day here in the U.S. on September 29!

We're also using a blast from the past sketch this week. This sketch is a fun one to follow and looks good with any kind of image.  Here's a link to my card when this sketch originally debuted at Sweet Sketch Wednesday so you can see another interpretation of it.

Fresh Brewed Designs
I can't think of a better sponsor for our coffee related theme this week than Fresh Brewed Designs! Heather Dennis, the owner and artist, is generously providing our grand prize winner with free images from her online shop.  Thanks Heather!

So I chose this Latte Cup image from Fresh Brewed Designs to fit our coffee theme. It was digitally paper pieced and the cup band printed on kraft cardstock and pieced on the image.  The papers used are digital that I found online and also printed them on kraft card stock.

Now hop on over to Sweet Sketch Wednesday for some more coffee inspiration and a creative view at more Fresh Brewed Designs images.

Life is Good

Happy Wednesday friends! Here's my card inspiration for the new challenge starting today at Sweet Sketch Wednesday.  Isn't this little ape a cutie? Well he's from Digi Stamp Boutique our sponsor this week so read on and see how to play along with us.

Here's the sketch to follow - it's another fun one from our Sally.  I like the diagonal play here.

Sally Ann and her company Digi Stamp Boutique is our sponsor this week. Some of the cutest darn images are found in her shop with a wide variety.  The grand prize winner of the challenge will receive a £10 voucher to the Digi Stamp Boutique shop. A super generous prize package - thank you Sally Ann!

I chose this fun Cheeky Monkey for my card this week. It comes in a set of three monkey images. I colored him with Copic markers, cut it out and popped it up on the panel for dimension. The banana and monkey face in the corner are buttons from my local craft store - I just cut the shank off and mounted them on the card with glue dots. The papers are from my stash from several years ago and I've lost the identifier on them - but they are so darn perfect with this adorable monkey image. You can see one of the other DSB monkey images I used from the set here.

Outing with Baby

Welcome back for another challenge at Sweet SketchWednesday! We're shaking it up a bit this week using some of our favorite images - digi or rubber stamps.

Here's this week's sketch to follow. If the hexagon stumps you, a circle can be substituted. Here's a trick though - print the sketch out in the size of your card and cut out the hexagon and trace it around your image and cut it out from there.  That's what I did for my card.

We do not have a sponsor this week and instead are offering our grand prize winner a package of stamping goodies put together by our own stamping queen, Sally Dube!  Embellishments, papers, stamps are all part of the package so you won't be disappointed!

I'm featuring this A Day For Daisies image called Outing With Baby Jane.  All the A Day For Daisies images are my favorites!  I've had this in my digi stash for some time and selected it because it fit perfectly with the hexagon frame. It was colored with Copics and the papers I used are from My Mind's Eye.

Vintage Darlings

I have some vintage goodness for you today as part of the new Sweet Sketch Wednesday challenge. There's something about A Day For Daisies images that bring out the distressing and shabby chic techniques in me and this week is no exception.

First of all, this is the sketch for the challenge this week.  I have rotated it to fit the image I chose and I think it looks good either direction - a very versatile sketch and perfect one for the taller and skinnier images too.
I always look forward to creating with A Day For Daisies digi stamps.  The images that Tammy, the owner and artist, draws up are spectacular, interesting and unique. And so many of them just seem to have a vintage flair which I love to accentuate in my card design and details. We are so thankful to Tammy for her sponsorship. The grand prize winner of this week's challenge will receive a $12 gift certificate to the ADFD online store - a fantastic prize!

I had this wonderful ADFD image called Five Vintage Darlings but never had the perfect sketch to use it with until now. These wonderful little maidens were colored with Copic markers, paying special attention to keeping the colors very pale so it had a faded, aged look. Lots of distressing on this card too with the rough and inked edges all the way around. The piercing was done freehand just to draw the eye more to the main panel. The papers set the overall color pallette and tone and they're from Prima's Divine collection.

So there you have it from me.  Now, you just have to pop on over to Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 to check out the other A Day For Daisies images and inspiration created for you by our design team.
