Playtime in the Shabby Tea Room

Well the weekend is fast coming to an end and I've enjoyed every minute.  Made a load of cards this weekend for several challenges and this card is one of them.  I put this together for the Shabby Tea Room challenge this week which is "One, Two, Three" - one ribbon, two buttons, three diecuts or punches.  I've never played in the Shabby Tea Room before - I've wanted to but seem to always run out of time.  Shabby Tea Room  challenges have always peaked my interest because it isn't always about sketches or colors. Well, this challenge intrigued me so I jumped right in.

I've had this wonderful paper from The Girls' Paperie called "Paper Girl" sitting there just ready to be used.  I sewed around each of the patches to make it look quilted in effect.  I thought the stamp from Rachelle Ann Miller called "Playtime" would be perfect because of the turtle's patchwork shell.  I colored the image with my Prismacolor pencils and then blended the colors with Gamsol.  I hadn't used my pencils in a while but I wanted the softer effect you get with them vs. Copics this time.

For the challenge, you can see my one ribbon - the kiwi and cream striped ribbon from Stampin' Up.  My two buttons form the centers of the flowers peaking up from behind the turtle and the three die cuts include the main stamped image panel and the Kiwi Kiss panel (both die cut with Spellbinders Labels 10 dies) and the pink with black polka-dot layer cut with Spellbinders Labels 13 dies).

This card will be for my niece, Olivia, for her birthday that is coming up in about a week.  I know she'll love this one.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.
